This quarter the Foundation continued work on the design of Al Fayah Park. Over the past months, our team of designers have focused their attention on the design of various park amenities, including an amphitheater and edu-taining playgrounds (both educational and entertaining). In addition, our designers are working on a modern interpretation of the traditional Falaj. One of the park’s highlights will be a crop garden consisting of numerous terraced plant beds. These will be framed by a series of inter-connected and inter-active water channels which in some cases can be used for flood irrigation. All in all, the crop garden will showcase and explore conventional, traditional and modern irrigation techniques and thus will be a great teaching environment for school children to learn about growing various fruit and vegetables. After all, our landscape architects and horticulturalists are planning for over 100 different plant species to call the park their home, including many edible plants.
