Explorations in the Arts kicked off in June

Dedicated to university students who are interested in pursuing a career in the arts and develop their skills and talents, Explorations in the Arts program in its third year received a double number of applications compared to the year before.

This year, 12 participants have been selected to take part of the three month program. These participants are university students from Al Hosn University, American University of Sharjah, Middlesex University Dubai, New York University Abu Dhabi, and Zayed University.

Designed to expand the young participant’s awareness and knowledge of arts and creative industries in the UAE, the program is divided into three components.

The participants have completed their UAE based program component with visits to art-related organization around the country. In Abu Dhabi they have visited the Manarat Al Saadiyat where they received a tour and a presentation. During their Sharjah visit, they attended workshops at Sharjah Art Foundation and the Emirates Fine Art Society. As for Dubai, the participants attended talks by Al Serkal Avenue, Tashkeel and Art Dubai.

During this month (July) the participants take on the second component of the program by being placed in a full month internship program within an art entity. The last component will be in August, with an education trip to Berlin, Germany for all the participants to visit galleries, museums and meet curators.

The participants of this year program are: Alanoud Al Ajami, Amna Al Katheeri, Ayesha Al Hajeri, Ayesha Al Mheiri, Dania Safadi, Farah El Rafei, Ghaleya Al Mansoori, Kareem Dagher, Latifa Al Hamed, Maitha Al Kaabi, Mohammad Al Marzouei, and Salma Al Shamsi.
