Plant Survey for Al Fayah Park

“Our environment and resources don’t belong to us, but are a responsibility bestowed upon us, and we share the collective liability to nurture it so that we may pass it on, intact, to the coming generation.”
The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Founding Father of UAE

Following in the steps of late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Founding Father of UAE, and his passion for preserving the environment and local landscape, we are committed to creating lasting contributions for the people of Abu Dhabi.

To that end, the Foundation has commissioned a comprehensive survey of all the 364 trees and 80 date palms that are currently growing in Old Airport Garden, with regards to assessing each tree’s individual size as well as age, growth pattern and most importantly health. Following the philosophy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan, our goal is to preserve as many trees of the current park as possible and the survey is to inform any further decisions on whether to transplant certain trees on site, and re-use them in the upcoming Al Fayah Park or whether to extract and move the plants to a temporary on-site or off-site nursery and use them in other projects. The purpose is to utilize the winter months for any extraction and transplantation as the plants are under least environmental stress during that time. The result of the survey is that more than 50% trees and date palms are to be re-used in the Al Fayah Park Project.
