Designing for a Better World

In September 2014, the Foundation hosted an engaging talk that linked philanthropy and creativity. The talk, entitled ‘Designing for a Better World’, saw three innovators share their experience of employing innovative design to create positive social impact:

  • Cynthia Koenig, founder of Wello, provided an introduction to her award-winning company; which was established to pioneer affordable innovations that ensure better, more reliable access to safe water for people around the world.
  • Timothy Prestero, founder of the non-profit organization Design that Matters, shared his experience in collaborating with leading social entrepreneurs and hundreds of volunteers to design new products and services for the poor in developing countries.
  • Reem Al Marzouqi, an Emirati university student, introduced her foot-based navigation car system.
