Shamsa Bint Mohamed Al Nahyan Fellowship in Early Childhood Education US Study Trip

In keeping with the goal to adopt and integrate best international practices of Early Childhood Development (ECD), the Shamsa bint Mohamed Al Nahyan fellowship entailed an exciting Study trip to New Haven, USA for the fellows of Cohort 2. Being trained under the Yale University’s Edward Zigler Center, the fellows commenced their trip on December 2, 2014 and returned on December 12, 2014.

The fellows visited high-quality ECD facilities such as Yale New Haven Hospital Child Care center, Calvin Hill Day Care Center, Newborn Follow up Clinic and Yale Children’s Psychiatric Inpatient Unit. The truly multidisciplinary course also included training sessions at Yale Media Center and observation skill development sessions at the Yale British Art Center. As well as visiting the extraordinary Dr. Edward Zigler at his home and attending lectures hosted by Yale’s faculty on various topics such as Autism in Young Children, Becoming a Parent, Child Protection, and Literacy Curriculum for Young Children.

All these elements contributed to create an engaging, enriching, and informative journey for the future ECD leaders of the UAE.
