Emerging Artists Fellowship

The Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship (SEAF) has announced its cohort of 2014/2015.

Founded in partnership with the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), and now in its second year, SEAF identifies 15 aspiring artists to participate in a unique and innovative educational program, which includes academic courses, technical workshops, peer critique, and a trip to the United States to visit Providence, Rhode Island and New York City.

Over 40 UAE nationals and residents applied for the 2014/2015 program, with the chosen artists representing a diverse range of countries, including: The UAE, Syria, Jordan, Canada and India.

Interested applicants were invited to submit samples of their work, along with their CV and a cover letter, for the consideration of a prestigious panel of judges. Representatives from the panel then interviewed shortlisted candidates, before the final 15 emerging artists were selected.

The Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artists of 2014/2015 are: Abdul Azim Al Ghussein, Alaa Edris, Alia Zaal Lootah, Hadeyeh Badri, Khalid Mezaina, Khawla Darwish, Maitha Al Mehairbi, Mays Albaik, Mouza Al Matrooshi, Reem Falaknaz, Saeed Khalifa, Saif Mhaisen, Talin Hazbar, and Vikram Divecha.

Participants just finished their second learning week in February with five RISD faculty members in Abu Dhabi.
